mootcourtApril 19, 2012 – Knoxville, Tennessee — Law students Ivy Gardner and Matthew Long represented the Lincoln Memorial University John J. Duncan, Jr. School of Law (LMU-DSOL) at the Billings, Exum and Frye National Moot Court Competition held at the Elon University School of Law in Greensboro, N.C. LMU-DSOL’s team advanced to the second day of competition and the round of 16 and took home second place for its respondent’s brief.

“The award for our brief was a huge testament to our writing and research curriculum,” Long said. “Several students and faculty from other schools commented on how we took them by surprise. ‘We will be watching out for you guys in future competitions,’ they said. I can’t think of a better compliment than that.”

Moot Court is an extracurricular activity where simulated court proceedings, including written briefs and oral arguments, take place and are judged in competition.
