raceagainstracismJanuary 24, 2013 – Knoxville, Tennessee— The Lincoln Memorial University-John J. Duncan, Jr., School of Law (LMU-DSOL) joined area businesses, media organizations and educational institutions in support of the YWCA of Knoxville as a sponsor of the YWCA Race Against Racism on Saturday, January 19.

The event took place at the YWCA Phyllis Wheatley Center and included a 5K-run, 1-Mile walk, diversity forum, entertainment, speakers and exhibitors. The community event provided Knoxville with a chance to celebrate diversity while working to create peace, justice and equality for all people.

In addition to sponsoring the event, LMU-DSOL also had a team of five students participating in the race and attending the diversity forum. Chris Caldwell, Cody Farmer, Nikki Price, Michelle Sanders and Kyle Vaughan joined Tennessee Supreme Court Justice Sharon Lee, who serves on the YWCA Board, in taking a stand against racism.

The YWCA Knoxville is strengthened by diversity, and draws together members who strive to create opportunities for women’s growth, leadership and power in order to attain a common vision: peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all people.
