ORIENTATION AND BRIDGE WEEK FOR NEW STUDENTS: AUGUST 5th – 10th; FIRST DAY OF CLASSES FOR ALL STUDENTS: AUGUST 14th

The schedule for Orientation and Bridge Week for new students have been set for the Fall 2013 entering classes. Attendance at all events is mandatory.

August 5                      9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.           Orientation

(Mandatory for all new students, except those who participated in the Admission Through Performance “ATP” Program)

August 6-9                  8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.             Bridge Week (First Four Days)

(Mandatory for all new students, except those who participated in Admission Through Performance “ATP” Program)

August 10                    9 a.m. – 4 p.m.                        Bridge Week (Final Day)

(Mandatory for all new students, except those who participated in Admission Through Performance “ATP” Program)

August 13                    2:00 p.m.                                  Deadline for ALL original, official transcripts                                                                                            to be received by the Office of Admissions

(In the event all transcripts are not received by August 13th, you will be dismissed and unable to attend classes this year.)

August 14                                                                        Classes Begin for All Students                                                                                                                       Photos will be made at Noon.                                                                                                                         Business attire required.                                                                                                                                 (Ladies: Jacket required.                                                                                                                                 Gentlemen: Suit or sport coat with tie.)

Bridge Week is a mandatory, non-credit program designed to introduce you to critical lawyering skills considered essential to law school success, including the reading of statutes and cases, synthesizing rules, analyzing problems and writing essay answers. Please note that the law school provides all students with a laptop, complete with the software packages necessary to perform all required educational tasks. Students are required to bring their law school issued laptops every day of Orientation and Bridge Week.

Absences during Orientation or Bridge Week will only be excused under extraordinary circumstances and prior approval must be obtained from my office. Students who participate in Admission Through Performance “ATP” Program are not required to attend Bridge Week. However, if you have specific questions about Bridge Week or the Academic Success Program, please call Professor David Walker, Director of Lawyering Skills at (865) 545-5307.
